Have you ever wondered about the Future BMW's coming down the pike? I have tried to stay on top of the ever changing world of the future BMWs. You will find this page in a constant state of change. So be sure to check in us from time to time.

General Note: For the U.S., it appears that BMW will start ramping up their diesels. Look for the possiblity of about 20% of BMW sales being diesels and a few Hybrids which should come out next year. Long term, BMW is still moving rapidly forward to the Hydrogen model.

BMW 3 Series - Diesel
Scheduled for Arrival: Late January 2009.
Main Highlights
-->The diesel meets emission standards in ALL 50 states.
-->The BMW Advanced Diesel technology will come in the form of the 3.0-liter inline-six with Variable Twin Turbo Technology.
-->The diesel engine for the BMW 335d will have 265 hp with a peak torque of 425 lb-ft.
-->The acceleration will be 0–60 mph in 6.0 seconds flat and average fuel economy of 23/36 mpg (city/highway).
Note: Active steering is not available on either Diesel model.

2009 750i/750Li Series
Scheduled for Arrival: Already in showrooms
Well, the pictures are out for the new 2009 BMW 750i and 750Li.
Main Highlights
--> 4.4 liter V-8 engine with 400 horses and 450 lb.-ft. of torque.
--> World's 1st Integrated Owner's Manual..In other words, the owner's manual will be delivered         electronically through the iDrive
--> There will be both a rear-view and a side-view camera to assist in parking.
--> Comes standard with a 40-GB hard drive for fast access to navigation data and approximately         13GB will be allocated to music storage.
--> The optional Driver Assistance Package will have Active Blind Spot Detection
--> The Totally Redesigned iDrive.
--> Plus.... much more.

20XX 760Li Series
Scheduled for Arrival: To be announced
Main Highlights
--> V-12 engine with 400KW/544 hp and maximum torque of 750 Newton-metres/553 lb-ft at 1,580 rpm.

2010 BMW M1
Expected Arrival Date: Not anytime soon.
According to the July 2008 issue of Car Magazine Online BMW will be coming out with a a mid-engine 458 bhp BMW M1. The new BMW M1 Hommage was a surprise debutant at the Concorso d'Eleganza 2008 di Villa d'Este. Best guesstimate is that it will come out in late 2009 or 2010. Is that the same time timetable... Sorry guys. Contrary to CarMagazine it doesn't look like the M1 is getting off the idea board for now. Don't look for it anytime in the near future.

BMW X1
Expected Arrival Date: Sometime in 2009
BMW has confirmed it will unveil the new X1 which is a small SAV concept. It is reportedly based on the architecture used for the 1 and 3 Series. No further details on the X1 are available at this time. Look for its debut in bi-annual 2008 Paris Auto Show. Will it come to the U.S. showrooms? The official word is that the X1 will probably arrive in 2009.

BMW X4
Expected Arrival Date: Still on the boards. Not anytime soon.
According to Germany's Automobilwoche, BMW is considering offering a two door version of its X3 a crossover called the X4. There are no dates mentioned as to when it would be produced.

2009 BMW X5 - Diesel
Scheduled for Arrival: Already in showrooms.
We actually have production numbers for X5-diesel for December 2008. Hopefully we will get pricing soon.
The 2009 BMW X5 WILL have an optional diesel.
Main Highlights
-->The diesel meets emission standards in ALL 50 states.
-->The BMW Advanced Diesel technology will come in the form of the 3.0-liter inline-six with Variable Twin Turbo Technology.
-->The diesel engine for the BMW X5 xDrive 35d will have 265 hp with a peak torque of 425 lb-ft.
-->The acceleration will be 0–60 mph in 6.9 seconds flat and average fuel economy of 19/26 mpg (city/highway. This makes the new X5 diesel the fastest, most efficient diesel SUV available in the U.S.

2009/2010 BMW X5
Look for the X5 to drop the X5 3.0i and move to the X5 300-hp and 400-hp twin turbos.

20XX BMW X7
Expected Arrival Date: None.
According to eGMCarTech. BMW has decided to not produce the X7, a large SUV that was supposed to compete with the Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz GL-Class.

20XX BMW Z2
Expected Arrival Date: It appears not in 2009 and questionable for 2010...we'll see.
According to Car and Driver Magazine..."According to sources inside BMW, the German automaker plans to launch a roadster priced well below the current Z4,which starts at $36,295. Although the price has not been set, the new two-seat droptop, dubbed the Z2..."
Main Highlights
--> Expected to occupy the sub-$30,000 roadster segment
--> Reportedly be based on the chassis and components of the current Z4
--> Approximately 151 inches in length
--> Z2 will get four-cylinder power. 150 horsepower in base model up to a turbocharged 300-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the M-tuned version...."
--> The Made-in-America BMW Z2 is expected to go on sale most likely 2010 - per Car and Driver Magazine

2009/2010 BMW Z4
Estimated Arrival Time:June 2009
2009 The new Z4 is the first BMW roadster with a two-piece retractable hardtop. It only takes 20 seconds to open it fully. Therefore the new Z4 offers the best everyday and all-season driving capabilities in its segment. Customers can choose between two in-line 6-cylinder engines with 255 and 300 horsepower. The new Z4 will introduce the "Dynamic Drive Control" function. It offers the driver three different settings for driving: from smooth to super-sporty.

20XX BMW Z9
Estimated Arrival Time:Not within the next year or two
The Z9 will be the successor to the previous Z8. The two-seat roadster will come out first with the Z9 coming out about 2 years later.
Main Hightlights
--> Initially expected to have a 540-hp version the M5/M6's V-10
--> A later version may occur with the 414-hp M3 V-8.
--> Have the new double-clutch seven-speed gearbox or optional eight-speed automatic gearbox by ZF.
--> Adaptive suspension control
--> Active steering
Estimated Price: $130,000 for the V-10 powered Z9.

BMW Hybrid
Estimated Arrival Time:Sometime in 2009
A BMW Hybrid? BMW is coming out with Hybrids sometime in 2009. The Hydrids will be the 7 Series and X6. I'll keep you posted as details arrive.
